NAE™ Project: Update July 10, 2010 Ladies and Gentlemen: Today was a marked departure from our big July 4th blowout. After enjoying all the afterburner fire and fury of last week, a slimmed down version of Team NAE™ met at our Spanaway hangar to address the more mundane tasks of housekeeping and unloading.
Ed Shadle, Steve Wallace, Von Armstrong, Chris Greene, Larry Martinson, Levi Swet and Omar Chramosta met to address those issues. On every occasion where the 56 foot long North American Eagle jet car is loaded into the trailer and transported to a test session, there comes a time when the process must be reversed and the Eagle finally eased down the ramps and rolled back into the hangar. Ed Shadle's to-do list this Saturday was to organize the hangar and relocate equipment to make the best use of space and get the car unloaded and back in position for further work. This was accomplished. During these peak summer weeks, our volunteer team members often have family obligations and personal activities that reduces our work force...but not our enthusiasm nor our determination. It is a long and hard road we travel to achieve a world land speed record. We are well on the way down that road. On the Bookstand Now available for sale is Colonel Joe Kittinger's new book Come Up and Get Me: An Autobiography of Colonel Joseph Kittinger is can be purchased on Amazon.com. A longtime friend of the North American Eagle, we consider Col Joe a consultant, who advises us on technical matters regularly. On the Newsstands If you own a Falcon Business Jet, then you have seen the North American Eagle in the latest issue of Falconer Magazine, Issue 36 / 2010. If you're not lucky enough to own a multi-million dollar business jet, the you can read The Quest To Be The Fastest Car On Earth written by Grant Kielczewski, Managing Editor on line. It features extraordinary photos of our July 2009 test session at The Black Rock Desert, and tells the story of tenacity and resourcefulness as our team challenges the 763 mph world land speed record.
