January 25, 2009

Ladies & Gentlemen:

Today Ed Shadle, Keith Zanghi, Jon Higley, Steve Wallace, Omar Chramosta, John Winchester, Von Armstrong, Tim Finley and Mike Compton - a friend of Ed's who visited us - were present to perform more work on improving various things on the "beast".

The cooling tower base

Visiting us today were guests Grayson Hansford, Jeramy Kolman and Chris Greene. Chris, who was here last week, rode over to the hangar on bikes with his two friends from Graham to spend the day watching the team work. Who knows, after conversations with team members and getting some "goodies" to take home, they may become future candidates to use this project as their "senior project" for graduation, like a couple of our former visiting youth ended up doing.

Steve spent his day completing the insulation lining to the electronic equipment bay's lid as part of an effort to keep the data acquisition system & computer cooler than was encountered at our last test session in June on the desert lake bed where temperatures reached 115° F.

Ed, Jon and Omar spent their time completing installation of the water cooling unit into the spare space which used to hold a small fuel cell when the aircraft flew.

Chris & Grayson work on shelving items

Keith, Von and the guests all helped to organize the various tools and inventory of screws, nuts, bolts, brackets and assorted material which help support the project's work into bins and onto our newly acquired cart racks. These racks make it possible to not only access whatever is needed easily, but they can be moved whenever necessary to make way for pulling other equipment like the start cart, provided by our sponsor American Valley Aviation.

We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site.
