NAE™ Project: Update Archives January 7, 2006 Ladies & Gentlemen: Present today were Ed Shadle, Keith Zanghi, Jon Higley, Russell Garlow, Sean Rondestdevt, Steve Wallace, Tim Finley, Von Armstrong, Ed Drumheller II, Omar Chramosta, Dave Selby, Bernard McVay, Patricia Wood, Gabrielle, and the team's mascott - Meeko the Moocher. Work was done on the parachute tubes, the cockpit instruments, the electronics bay wiring, the air hose coupling receiver, fuel pump panels and the hangar's computer. Visiting today were Jim & Myla Hass, friends of Omar, who took a look at the project and met the team members present. Jim, who is a fuel cell specialist, specifically came to look at the fuel bladder to assess what needs to be done to seal up a leak found coming from the tank while we were testing last fall. The car was jacked onto stands so work could be done on the parachute tubes. While Sean, Von, and Ed made modifications to the parachute tube release cones, Ed Drumheller II continued work on building more high speed parachute bags. Jon registered the newly installed operating system on the hangar's computer, while Keith showed the team the newly produced five minute promotional video of the project to be sent to potential sponsors that was made by our sponsor Puget Sound Video. Steve and Tim continued work on rewiring circuits and switches to the electronics bay and cockpit, while Bernard removed the air hose coupling receiver and Gabrielle put panels back over the fuel pumps on the car's belly. Russell took more measurements and relayed them to his dad who's helping to machine the model parts Russell's using to build replicas of the car for presentations. Sad news was learned about Slim Lawson, one of the team's honorary members who helped build the car's verticle stabilizer several years ago. Slim sustained injury to his hip in a fall and had to be hospitalized yesterday after surgery. The team is wishing him a speedy recovery.
