NAE™ Project: Update Archives February 11, 2006 Ladies & Gentlemen: Present at today's work party were Ed Shadle, Keith Zanghi, Jon Higley, Bill Eckberg, Ed Drumheller II, Tim Finley, Meeko the Moocher, Steve & Libby Wallace, Von Armstrong, Bernard McVay, Patricia Wood, Dennis McVay, Aaron McVay, Rich Pengelley, Glenn Amy, Omar Chramosta, Dave Selby, John Zambrano and Scott Robertson from Rapp Hydema U.S. Inc. Dave Robertson installed a couple of quick disconnect hydraulic fittings in the engine bay before most anyone else had arrived for the day. This will give the team the capability to hook up an external hydraulic pump to the car when the engine is not running for the purpose of checking speed brake door operations and bleeding of air from the lines. Ed Drumheller II packed two parachutes with the help of Aaron McVay today. These will be for our appearance at the Aviation Trade Show appearance at the end of this month. While hydraulic work was being finished up in the engine bay, Ed, Keith, Bill, Steve and Dennis discussed ideas on setting up the switch mount to be used for controlling the two rear wheel brakes, as well as the canard control actuators. Denny Osborn, a friend of Rich Pengelley's, came along to lend a hand with his electrical expertise to help Tim reinstall the fuel pumps. Patricia Wood performed more maintenance and program installation onto the team computers that will be used for storing procedural checklist documents, video clips and presentation material on. Meanwhile, Bernard fabriacted yet another bracket item across the hangar. At the same time, Ed Shadle made a couple of heat shields and rivited them to the upper half of the engine bay. Tim Finley also installed a ground strip bracket for the electrical system before the engine was installed. Finally the team installed the engine back into the car in about a half-hour's time. The team also devised an alternative deceleration system that was relatively inexpensive and easily applied. Unfortunately, Ed Drumheller II, our team decelertation specialist, had already gone home for the day, so we couldn't show him our great idea. Of course, once the engine was installed, Bernard had time to stand with the two beautiful women who were present. Meeko the Moocher successfully cleaned up after many of the team members who snacked voraciously throughout the day. We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site.
