Ladies and Gentlemen:

Today's work party got underway pretty much on time.  Ed Shadle, Tom Tiede, Bill Eckberg, Rich Pengelley, Von Armstrong, Steve Wallace, Omar Chramosta, Keith Zanghi, Eric Helpenstell, Larry Martinson and friend Levi Swet continued to address a number of items on the fix it list.

With the nose cone off, the tail cone off, and the engine removed and on the cart, the North American Eagle™ is not her usual pretty self.  But the upside is that things are easier to get at and work on and the parts will all fit back together nicely when ready.

Ed, Tom, and Bill got to work on the jet engine, replacing the old igniter system with a new S&S Turbine Services, Ltd single igniter box and relocating it.  Bill continued the delicate task of adjusting fuel controls and working on the fuel supply system.

Steve and Ed traced circuitry from the cockpit gauges and replaced a faulty circuit board...also making some improvements to the rear braking controls. Omar finished off our brand new instrument panel with Laser Impact Services placards.

Von took on the task of grinding off decades old layers of paint and repainted the drill press that sponsor Steve Green from Eagle Machine loaned to the project.  By the end of the day, Steve, Larry, and Levi had disassembled the working parts, cleaned and repacked bearings and splines, straightened a bent shaft, and had everything working smoothly. Once a new motor is located this old work horse will be ready to go again.

Keith and Rich put in the most of their work time inside the tail cone. The inside surface areas needed preparation for a new heat protective product provided by LizardSkin® Ceramic Insulation. This will serve to shield the outside paint finish from the high temperatures generated when the engine is running.

Ed restocked the food larder today and the team partook of hamburgers with all the trimmings. With chips even. And cookies.  Von was the designated prep chef and presided at the pyre.

Next week we make sure everything is working right with another engine test.
